Sweet Desert Boating

Went out to Red Rock in the Mojave Desert, Nevada today. It was really pretty and extremely H.O.T. You might also be wondering why I have adorable striped boat shoes as the first picture. Well, that's because I just ordered them off sperrytopsider.com! (and get this, they are ON SALE!). I've been wanting boat shoes for a HECK of a longgg time, like since MAY. So I'm finally gonna get them for my back to school wearing enjoyment! :)

P.S. The person standing next to me in the third photo is my cousin Delaney and her blog is called Quality Check 28

Lost in Vacation

This is my first ever fashion post using myself... It's interesting.
I first off should apologize for the crappy camera quality. Oh well, live with it....
Welll, I have been back to school shopping; developing my new school style for this year. At this point, I would call it New York Nautical. This outfit doesn't represent that but hopefully you can live with that. I know I haven't posted in a long time, but I've been on vacation. Right now I'm in Nevada, visiting Grandparents, Cousins and such, and it's been pretty fun. Although for the first time ever, I think I miss home. I miss my friends. I miss school *GASP*. Or maybe I don't, I just feel like I'm missing something, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Lately, I've been feeling like I'm being pushed out of my childhood. More and more everyday. Does anyone else know what I mean. Is anyone even listening?
In a very obvious example, I went to a pizza place yesterday where I usually get pizza dough to play with, but they didn't even offer me any. I realize that I'm a teenager now, and this is what I've always longed for, but can't I just have the best of both worlds?? Well, I have so much on my mind, but instead of boring you into a slow and painful death, I'll just go listen to my iPod in bed.
Ta-ta.
Madi

WHAT I'M WEARING::::
Pac-Sun Jean Button down
White Mossimo T-Shirt from Target
High Brown Shorts from H & M
Tan Belt from Old Navy
Wayfarer style glasses from Target

MARRY ME MARC

Ok, Hi, Marc Jacobs, do you want to marry me??

My dad just got back from a business trip in the Philippines and he brought me this super ah-dorable bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs. I love the Philippines, because it's not a knock-off, but it wasn't crazy expensive retail priced either! :D It's called a Marc by Marc Jacobs Miss Marc Tote and it has this cute girl on the front, with a bird saying "<3 Marc". It will def be my new it bag for when school starts, because not only is it cute but it's big enough to hold all my school junk!

It says Marc by Marc Jacobs, but my camera is crap ^ >

The Girl Who Cried Gucci

So, I was browsing through the major fashion designer's websites that I adore; Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Versace, Betsey Johnson; and everyone has already released their fall and winter collections. One that particularly caught my eye was Gucci. I love the neutral colors, lots of tan, cranberry, silver/gray, and navy, which is typical for fall, but I'm also seeing feathers, sequins, lace, leather, and especially mixing tones of the same hue. So, to all fashionistas, I know you're already fantasizing about back to school shopping, but take a look for some inspiration!
P.S. Hope you're having a great summer, I am! Just got back from Naples, headed on a cruise next week, and then to Nevada two weeks later! Whoot!!

XOXO

Metro Madness & Cloudy Days

So here in the Sunshine state, it's a full blast of summer, including heat, humidity, hurricanes, and the very famous cloudy/rainy days. It's so strange how it's so much more rainier in the summer, but it is. Many magnet high schools are deciding to put their new incoming freshmen through multiple long weeks of summer school. Can you say BLECH? Luckily, at Dash (Design and Architecture Senior High-which will be my high school :D), they don't make it toooooo terrible, all we do is art. Buttttttttttt, COME ON. I mean you could say it is only three and a half hours, nothing compared to the regular school day, but you must consider the fact that Dash is in the heart of Miami. Actually it's a little more north than Miami. More like the throat, or brain ;) . Anywho, to get to Dash is a very long process with many steps.
  1. Get up @ 5:40 A.M. (yes, that is a 5, not a miss-spelling) to get ready to go to school
  2. Pick up my bff @ 6:20
  3. Have dad drive us to the Miami Metrorail station
  4. Catch the 6:57 Metro
  5. Catch a bus at 7:15
  6. Arrive at Dash at 7:35
Yep. That's just a TAD early to be waking up in the summer, I think anyways. But I don't mind all to much. The metrorail is a great way to people watch, and man do I have a lot of new rules for you.

1. Guys, don't wear backpacks if your a business man!
This is probably the oddest things I've come across, and it's actually quite common. If your wearing slacks, a crisp button down, an expensive watch, and especially a matching over coat, DO NOT carry around a stuff-to-the-brim backpack. It looks so unprofessional, it's definitely not the most comfortable thing out there, and it gives you a hunchback!!!! But a brief case, and if you want something more casual, they make really great messenger bags, that don't look like man bags, and they look very nice. They fit a laptop and everything. Get rid of the bookbag.

2.Guys, please, tuck in your shirt.
I don't care if it's just a polo johnny, tuck in your shirt! Geez, do I really have to be your mother? If your going anywhere, whether it be to work, to lunch, golfing, it doesn't matter, tuck it in. I constantly see guys walking around with a button down or polo, just hanging over their jeans or slack. I MEAN COME ON. There is only ONE shirt you don't tuck in when going to a public place, and that's a graphics tee shirt. 'Nuff said.

3. Ladies, do you really need to put on your make-up in the train?
It's the girls' turn this time. Nobody wants to know how much makeup you have on. NO BODY. That's supposed to be unknown. You want people to think you don't have makeup on, just flawless skin. And let's face it, you get makeup all over your face with how much the train jerks around.

4. Don't draw people that are awake....
This is just an artist tip, because me and my friends like drawing people for practice on the trains, but if you draw someone that is awake, most likely it will be kind of creeper-ish. Just saying....

Ahh the joys of living in Miami

So, since I do live in Miami, I believe I should have a post about my city. NOTE: nothing in the post is meant to be AT ALL offensive.

Miami really isn't a city, but a region, called North Cuba. This is a fact. Well, actually, since I don't want to tick off any Puerto Ricans, it can also be called North Puerto-Cuba. There are so many hispanics here. It's crazy! I've never lived anywhere with this many hispanics. Basically if you can't speak spanish (of which I can't speak) you are looked down upon, as if you are not a real Miamian. I will, though, thankfully be taking spanish 1 next year, so finally all these spanish grandmas will stop talking spanish about me to their friends. Yo, I'm not stupid, I know what a gringa is. I know when I'm being insulted... Just saying.

So since I'm doing my nice big Miami post, every post of mine will have a *You know you're in Miami when _______*. So today's is *You know your in Miami when... you go to buy mothers day flower boutiques and the only have a card-like thing on the top that says not "Happy Mother's Day but Maud Feliz something or whatever Happy mother's day is in spanish."* This really happened when going to buy flowers. They seriously had NOTHING in english.

Well, I hope you have learned a little about Miami. If not, oh well. I'm no geography or civics or whatever teacher. :)
